I've sort of exploded with activity on here of late, and it's all due to a certain character I've created. Though originally simply for the purposes of roleplay games, he has become something more. Of all the characters I have come up with over the years, this one became more popular than anything I ever could have imagined. Hell, someone even incorporated him into the plot of a novel they'd been working on for years. But I digress. I still have to introduce the "good" man.

Dreneth Korian is a servant to the devil. He has held this position for the better part of two-and-a-half centuries. It all began in a brutish desert where people take strength through numbers and gather numbers through power and fear. When left to survive on his own as a young man with signs of a magical affinity, he joined with what he felt was the most powerful of the groups in that desert, a cult called The Order Of The Serpent King. Upon entering their ranks, he learned that they cult was actually a group that secretly worshipped the devil.

After years of service to them, he felt that simple servitude was not enough. He wanted power as well. To achieve this end, he used ancient rites to get a personal meeting with the Dark Lord that ruled over the Order. In the deal that ensued, he got the power he desired along with eternal youth, so long as he provided his master with a service. From that time forward, he would be charged with taking the souls of the wicked before they could repent or amass too many innocent victims, since dead innocents do not serve the devil's purposes. To signify this new duty and grant Dreneth with the power he'd sought, he was given a magnificent silver snake staff, a gleaming gem held in its mouth that served as the focal point of his power and a direct link to hell.

But the other members of the Order did not care for his violating their traditions and seeking power directly from their Dark Lord, something only the grandmasters were allowed to do. But with the power he'd been granted and the approval of the master they served, they did not dare attempt to kill him. Instead, they banished him from their ranks, deciding that he should never darken their doors again. Dreneth accepted this judgment with a wicked smile, his reddened eyes gleaming with his new power. He left the Order behind, but did not leave it intact for long. As a demonstration to himself and his master, he collapsed the old temple in on itself.

Now at the age of 287, looking no older than his thirties, Dreneth has done his job well. Aside from his duties of taken tainted souls, he has taken on the job as a liason between the devil and the people, offering up the contracts that he have become so much a part of that dark legend. This has earned him several names over the years to those who know of him, such as the Temptor or the Corruptor.

As for a description of what this man looks like, I'd rather not place that in a journal like this. Salarez has done a fair enough job depicting him, and I think that will do for now.

Now, why am I bringing all this up like this in a journal that will sit on the front page of my profile? Well, aside from feeling I should move the old thing about writer's block out after the many months it's been sitting there, I guess I just wanted to spread this character of mine. He's taken on a life of his own, a scary prospect, I have to admit. He'll likely be bleeding into a few of my other projects, not to mention Fantasy's book. I'm just so happy about it all that I need to spout it all out like this. However, having said it, I don't feel there's much reason to continue on.
